Looking forward to 2021

Happy New Year!

ree

With 2020 now officially in the rearview mirror, we could finally think about how it changed our lives. The truth is my life has not been dull in the last decade. I’ve worked and lived in three countries, I have bought and sold a few cars, furniture and could say that I am living a life of a modern-day 40 something nomad.

On the go during a pandemic

The pandemic didn’t affect my lifestyle as much as other people. I still took two transatlantic flights moved around between two continents, took on new projects by exploiting the remote work capabilities from Copenhagen, the Bay Area, and Bulgaria. There were also some fun moments like exploring mysterious Thracian places, walking through the Sequoiadendrum giganteum, trekking in the Mexican high-desert, or just strolling the quaint streets of Copenhagen. It was not a bad year. True, I was not able to share all this with my friends and family but I’ve learned to like being alone, with myself (a bit disturbing).

Little things mattered

The lockdown also brought an appreciation for the things we usually take for granted - like getting to know your next-door neighbor, composting and recycling, and using the compost for tomato patch. I am also grateful that I didn’t spend most of my time browsing through the Netflix menu and ordering through DoorDash. And I can't forget all the time cooking. I enjoyed trying a few new recipes (I discovered Plan to Eat) and the pleasures of trying the miso chicken over a glass of red wine.

I am grateful for the internet that enabled me to put bread on the table, sharpen my skills in product management by taking an online course, and the ability to connect with our loved ones around the world.

Looking forward to 2021

We learned a lot in 2020. We became more creative and resilient, we learned to pause and enjoy the basics like having good health and a loved one nearby. Let’s see what 2021 has in store for us.
